This New Program Recognizes Star Nurses from Washington DC, Maryland & Virginia

Nurses so often go above and beyond to care for their patients, getting involved and giving so  much of themselves to their organizations and communities. These extraordinary people can be found every day in hospitals, medical offices healthcare facilities, schools and more.

It’s time to recognize the extra-special efforts of those who do more than asked, take initiative and shine brightly among their peers.

“Star Nurses” is a campaign led by the partnership of The Washington Post and American Nurses Association, and they’re looking for nominations for Star Nurses right now.

The deadline to nominate your Star Nurse candidates is midnight, February 22, 2020. Winners will be announced during ANA’s National Nurses Month at an event on May 12, which will also celebrate the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale.

This year, 2020, has also been declared the Year of the Nurse.

ANA and The Post welcome nominations from patients, families, co-workers and peers. A distinguished panel of ANA RNs will evaluate all nominations and choose the top six RNs: two from Maryland, two from the District and two from Virginia. Nominations are welcome for two categories; Clinical Care Nurses and Administrative/Academic Nurses. Criteria and Official Rules can be found here.

There are 250,000 registered nurses in the DMV and six will be recognized as Stars this coming May!
